Greek Left calls for protest at the Iranian embassy in Athens

I received a call for a protest at the Iranian embassy in Athens from various leftist mailing lists, so in the interest of internationalist solidarity, I translate it and post it here:

Mobilization in solidarity with the revolt of the Iranian people

The revolt in Iran, after the irregularities during the last election, had already made apparent the challenging of the theocratic and dictatorial regime by the masses. The men and women who joined the protests demanding rights and liberty, were treated with brutal repression, torture and even murder.

Presently, thousands of Iranian citizens are in the streets again, because they are suffocating under a regime that deprives them of all rights (especially the women). Again, the mullah regime faces the ongoing mobilizations with brute force.

Now more than ever, it is time to show our solidarity with those taking part in the revolt. The people of Iran need the solidarity of the social movements, not the crocodile tears of the West, which continues to threaten them with war.

  • Solidarity with the Iranian revolt.
  • Stop the slaughter - Free all political prisoners.
Protest rally on Tuesday, January 5th, at 6pm at Psychico and march towards the Iranian embassy.

AKOA, Antinationalist-Antimilitarist Initiative, Women's Self-Defence Group, Network for Political and Civil Rights, Kokkino, Synaspismos Youth, OKDE Spartakos, League of Conscientious Objectors
